Nadia Buari Sets the Record Straight: Kissing Scenes in Movies Are Just an Act

One of Ghana’s favorite actress, Nadia Buari has lifted the curtain on the reality of kissing scenes in movies, revealing that they’re purely fictional and not driven by genuine emotions. In a recent interview with TV3, Buari emphasized that actors aim to create convincing romantic situations, but their personal feelings remain detached.
“The kissing scenes aren’t real; it’s all make-believe,” Buari clarified. “We’re trying to convince the audience, so we go through the motions, but there are no genuine emotions involved. It’s real for the characters, not for us as actors.”
Buari highlighted the importance of separating emotions from the acting process, especially during intimate scenes, which are typically filmed in front of a large crew. She confessed that kissing scenes and character portrayal are the most challenging aspects of her profession.
The actress, who’s making a comeback to the screen after a hiatus, shared these insights ahead of her upcoming film, “Forever in a Night.” Produced by John N. Okwugo and directed by Jameel Buari, the movie premieres on November 9, 2024, at Accra Mall and West Hills Mall in Accra.
With her return to the industry, Buari offers a glimpse into the nuances of movie acting, reminding audiences that what they see on screen is a performance, not reality.
