Rev. Steve Mensah Urges Christians to Seek Medical Attention When Sick

Rev. Steve Mensah, the Founding Bishop of Charismatic Evangelistic Ministries (CEM), has called on Christians to seek medical treatment when needed, emphasizing that faith in divine healing should not replace professional healthcare.
During a five-day non-denominational crusade and medical outreach at Adisadel College Park in Cape Coast, Rev. Mensah highlighted the importance of balancing faith with medical intervention. Organized by CEM in partnership with Cape Coast’s local council of churches, the event aimed to share the message of Jesus Christ and extend aid to the vulnerable.
Rev. Mensah stressed that while miracles have their place, medicine is essential and should work hand in hand with faith-based approaches to healing.
Extensive Medical Outreach for Cape Coast Residents
The outreach included free medical services alongside spiritual nourishment, making it a pivotal event for the Cape Coast community. A 50-member surgical team, working with the Cape Coast Metro Hospital, performed surgeries over the five-day period, treating about 200 patients with conditions like goitre, hernia, and fibroids at no cost. This initiative provided critical care to individuals who otherwise might lack access to such services.
Additionally, approximately 7,000 people from Cape Coast and nearby communities received donations of clothing, mattresses, toiletries, food, and wheelchairs. Over 200 healthcare professionals—including optometrists, dentists, and general practitioners—offered free consultations and medications, amplifying the impact of the outreach.
Concerns over Galamsey
Rev. Mensah also addressed the issue of illegal mining, known as galamsey, and its severe health and environmental impacts across Ghana. He advocated for an impartial approach to tackling galamsey, urging that it be resolved with genuine concern for citizens’ well-being, free from political interference.
Spiritual Empowerment and Community Unity
The outreach included three nights of crusade sessions, along with meetings for pastors, church leaders, women, and youth, fostering spiritual empowerment. Attendees from Cape Coast and neighboring areas gathered to seek both physical and spiritual healing, creating an atmosphere of unity and shared purpose.
Community Testimonies
Beneficiaries like Elizabeth Warden from Elmina expressed deep gratitude for the care provided, recounting how she received a thorough eye examination, medication, and glasses at no cost. Similarly, Cecilia Mintah from Abrafo attended the event with ongoing knee and eye issues, sharing her gratitude for the comprehensive care she received without any payment.
Commendation from the Oguaamanhen
The Oguaamanhen, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, praised CEM’s efforts, noting that while many organizations offer donations, CEM went further by providing free surgeries to those in need. He emphasized the lasting positive impact this outreach would have on the community, encouraging residents to show kindness and unity in their everyday lives.
A Model for Community Support
The CEM outreach demonstrated the power of combining faith with practical action, delivering crucial medical care and spiritual support to those in need. This event exemplified how compassion, unity, and support can bring lasting change, ensuring that all community members, regardless of circumstances, receive help and encouragement.
