Ghana Election 2024: Police Launch Manhunt for Kasoa Shooting Suspect Mujaheed Suraj, Alias Mims

The Ghana Police Service has initiated a manhunt for Mujaheed Suraj, also known as Mims, who is suspected of shooting and injuring an individual in the leg at the Awutu Senya East Constituency in the Central Region.
The incident occurred at the Odukpong School Park in Kasoa, where tensions escalated during a political gathering. The victim, identified as the driver of a New Patriotic Party (NPP) member, sustained injuries from the gunshot.

According to eyewitness accounts, the altercation began with a warning shot fired by another party member to disperse a crowd after an earlier disagreement between two family members. The situation quickly spiraled out of control, leading to the shooting.
The suspect fled the scene, abandoning his vehicle, which has since been impounded by the police as part of their investigation. Law enforcement officials have assured the public that an intelligence-led operation is underway to apprehend the suspect and bring him to justice.
“We want to assure the public that we will surely get him,” a police statement emphasized, underscoring their commitment to ensuring accountability.
The incident has heightened tensions in the constituency as the nation prepares for the 2024 general elections. The police have called for calm and cooperation from the public to aid in their investigations.
