Ghana Election 2024: Heavy Rains Disrupt Voting in Madina, Dome-Kwabenya, and Trobu

Heavy rainfall caused significant disruptions to voting in parts of the Dome-Kwabenya and Madina constituencies in the Greater Accra Region during the ongoing 2024 general elections.

Polling stations in areas such as Teiman, Oyarifa, Ayi Mensah, Kweiman, Abokobi, and Sesemi were among those affected, as the downpour created challenges for both voters and officials. The rain, described by many as an “act of God,” temporarily hindered the smooth operation of the electoral process.

Earlier in the day, the atmosphere at most polling stations—situated at locations like churches, schools, and police stations—was described as quiet and serene. Observers from Daily Graphic noted orderly queues and a generally calm environment before the weather took a turn.

Despite the adverse conditions, the voting process remained relatively peaceful as it progressed, with only minor disagreements reported between representatives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC). The rain, however, tested the resilience of voters determined to exercise their democratic rights.
