EC Opens National Collation Centre to Media for First Time in Fourth Republic

The Electoral Commission (EC) has opened its National Collation Centre to the media for the first time since the inception of the Fourth Republic, marking a significant step toward enhancing transparency in the electoral process.

This move aligns with the Commission’s commitment to announcing the results of the presidential election within 72 hours. The unprecedented media access aims to foster public trust and inclusivity.

Speaking to journalists, Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Commissioner in charge of Operations, emphasized the importance of this decision. “Granting media access to the center will allow all Ghanaians to participate in the collation of the presidential results, thereby erasing any doubts,” he stated.
The center has been equipped with fax machines designated for each of the country’s 16 regions to facilitate the seamless transmission of collated results.
The official announcement of the presidential election results will be made by the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs. Jean Mensa.
