Denzel Washington Expresses Concern Over Social Media’s Negative Impact on the Youth

Acclaimed actor Denzel Washington has voiced his concerns about the detrimental effects of social media on today’s younger generation.

In a recent interview with Mescal, Washington reflected on how the pervasive influence of social media is shaping lives in ways he never experienced growing up.

“I pray for your generation because we didn’t have to deal with what you’re facing now. It’s our fault for putting it in your hands,” Washington said, highlighting the challenges brought on by constant online scrutiny.

The two-time Academy Award winner noted that the flood of opinions on platforms like Instagram and LinkedIn creates a culture of instability. “There weren’t nine million opinions every moment of my day, people who liked you and then suddenly hated you, leaving you wondering why,” he lamented.

Washington also revealed that he has chosen to stay off social media entirely, believing that young people need to understand its potential dangers. “I never had an Instagram account or LinkedIn,” he stated firmly.

His remarks serve as a cautionary note, urging today’s generation to navigate the digital age with awareness and caution.
