Chronixx Earns First Gold Certification in the US for ‘Eternal Light’ with Free Nationals

Jamaican reggae sensation, Chronixx has reached a major career milestone with the Gold certification of “Eternal Light”, his collaboration with R&B band Free Nationals.

Nearly five years after its release, the track has earned Chronixx his first Gold certification in the U.S. market, awarded by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on September 18. This recognition comes after the song achieved the equivalent of 500,000 units sold through a combination of digital sales and streaming.

The Free Nationals, best known as the backing band for Anderson .Paak, consists of José Ríos (lead guitar), Ron “T.Nava” Avant (keyboards, lead vocals), Kelsey Gonzalez (bass guitar), and Callum Connor (drums). When “Eternal Light” was released in October 2019, Connor expressed his admiration for Chronixx’s creative input.

“It was a pleasure to work with Chronixx on “Eternal Light,” Connor shared. “His melody ideas are unique and stand out from the typical R&B pop writers we usually collaborate with.”

In the track, Chronixx delivers soulful vocals that harmonize seamlessly with the Free Nationals’ vibrant instrumentation. His lyrics, filled with positivity, love, and uplifting energy, feature lines such as: “No bad vibes can’t stop this good vibration, yeah / That’s the positive vibes we keep creating, yeah.” The chorus, “Forever shining this light / We keep it blazin’, yeah,” encapsulates the song’s radiant, feel-good message.

“Eternal Light” co-written by Chronixx and Avant, was the fourth single from the Free Nationals’ self-titled debut album. The album has also produced two other Gold-certified singles: “Time” featuring Mac Miller and Kali Uchis, and “Beauty and Essex” featuring Daniel Caesar and Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Additionally, the album was nominated for Best Progressive R&B Album at the 2021 Grammy Awards.

Chronixx, known for other hits like “Who Knows” with Protoje (certified Silver in the UK), “Here Comes Trouble”, “Skankin Sweet”, “Likes”, and “They Don’t Know”, continues to solidify his place in the global music scene with this latest achievement.
