Afrofusion Sensation Minz Unveils Debut Album ‘By Any Minz’

Minz, a rising star in Nigeria’s vibrant music scene, is making his mark with the release of his debut album “By Any Minz.”

Born and raised in Lagos with roots in Oyo State, Minz blends his deep cultural heritage with contemporary sounds, describing his music as “very wavy with an afrobeats foundation.” Influenced by legends such as Fela Kuti and modern icons like Travis Scott, Minz embarked on his creative journey at 22, setting up his own studio to cultivate his unique sound.

With a growing discography that includes standout tracks like “Wap” featuring Davido, “234,” “BDMN,” “Sokoto,” and the viral sensation “Wo Wo” with Blaqbonez and BNXN, Minz has earned recognition for his infectious melodies and smooth vocals. His music has amassed over 100 million streams, positioning him as a bridge between Nigeria’s alté scene and mainstream afrobeats, all while building a global fanbase.

In addition to his own work, Minz has proven his versatility as a producer, collaborating with prominent artists like DJ Spinall and Runtown, while also lending his creative touch to tracks by stars such as Mr Eazi and Cruel Santino. Now, with his debut album By Any Minz on the horizon, Minz is poised to further solidify his status as a visionary force in afrobeats and afrofusion.

Set for release on October 4 under emPawa Africa, ‘By Any Minz’ is highly anticipated, following the success of viral hits like “Wap” and the newly released “Diallo” featuring Tekno. Known as “your favorite artist’s favorite artist,” Minz seeks to leave an indelible mark with his debut, reflecting his unwavering passion and drive.

The making of ‘By Any Minz’ was a truly collaborative effort, with Minz joining forces with French producer BGRZ in Lagos for a month of creative sessions. He also teamed up with Grammy-nominated producer Rugged, Ozedikus, and A&R specialist 10Ten. Minz’s creative journey even took him to Berlin, where he worked with the production duo 255, crafting an album that draws inspiration from African legends like Fela Kuti and Angélique Kidjo, all while embracing a pan-African sound.

The album opens with “Revelations,” where Minz reflects on his journey and aspirations. “Shadow” follows with uplifting highlife rhythms and empowering lyrics, while “Wo Wo” taps into his introspective side with soulful melodies. “Ja” brings a joyful celebration of love, and “Do” featuring Blaqbonez is a dancefloor-ready anthem. “Drame,” with Moliy, offers a melodic escape from the everyday hustle.

On the album’s second half, Minz presents “Lon3ly,” a heartfelt ballad accentuated by soulful saxophone, and “F.U,” featuring Projexx and Oxlade, which fuses raw emotion with afro-R&B grooves. The track “Low” introduces what Minz calls the “new sound of Lagos,” while “Sokoto” energizes with its EDM-infused beats. The project concludes with the powerful “Disembark,” a message to the critics, and the triumphant “Mo De Ma (By Any Minz),” which celebrates his perseverance.

‘By Any Minz’ is a rich tapestry of personal narratives and universal themes, a showcase of Minz’s undeniable talent and determination. With its intricate production and relatable songwriting, the album cements Minz’s place as one of Africa’s emerging stars, honoring his roots while pushing the boundaries of global pop music.
