Burna Boy: Most Streamed Nigerian Artist on Apple Music

Burna Boy has officially been crowned the most streamed Nigerian artist of all time on Apple Music, as announced by the platform in celebration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day. To commemorate this occasion, Apple Music unveiled a list of the top Nigerian artists, songs, and albums that have made a significant impact over the years.

In honor of Nigeria’s Independence Day, Apple Music is launching “Oshe Naija” (meaning “Thanks Nigeria” in Yoruba), a month-long initiative that highlights various regions that have shaped Nigeria’s rich musical landscape and contributed to its global recognition.

Among the announcements, Burna Boy leads the list, having risen to international fame with his hit single “YE” in 2018. The rankings showcase some of the most successful Nigerian artists of the past decade, with Wizkid taking the second spot, followed by Davido in third. Rema and Asake round out the top five, reflecting their impressive streak of hits.

Notably, Tems is the only female artist featured in the top 10, having gained widespread acclaim for her captivating sound that resonates with global audiences.

These contributors feature a diverse array of talent, including Afro-fusion star Omah Lay (Port Harcourt), hip-hop artist ODUMODUBLVCK (Abuja), rising rapper Shallipopi (Benin City), Afro-R&B singer Qing Madi (Benin City), genre-bending artist Seyi Vibez (Lagos), iconic singer-songwriter 2Baba (Jos), promising rapper Jeriq (Enugu), and up-and-coming artist Bloody Civilian (Abuja).
