Jason Derulo Electrifies 35th Birthday at DStv Delicious Festival with Unforgettable Performance

American singer and dancer Jason Derulo marked his 35th birthday with a high-energy performance at the DStv Delicious International Food & Music Festival, thrilling fans with iconic hits like “Swalla Walla,” “Acapulco,” and “Talk Dirty to Me.” His dynamic stage presence and impressive dance moves kept the crowd on their feet, adding extra excitement to the two-day festival.

The audience went wild when Derulo brought Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz on stage for a remix of “Komasava,” alongside Robot Boii, delivering a show-stopping collaboration. “To pull off such a performance on short notice is amazing,” commented attendee Buyani Fakudze. Another fan, Dineo Gasebone-Padayachee, praised Derulo’s performance, saying, “Happy birthday, you killed it. Wow, what a show!”

Held at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit, the first day of the festival featured legendary hip-hop artist Busta Rhymes alongside Derulo as headliners. Busta Rhymes, born Trevor George Smith Jr., wowed the audience with hit tracks like “Baby If You Give It to Me” and “Look at Me,” while also debuting a song from his upcoming album *BLOCKBUSTA*. After his electrifying performance, Busta expressed his appreciation to the crowd, saying, “Joburg, you guys gave me an early Christmas.” David King, another festivalgoer, called Busta’s set the “performance of the night.”

The event also paid homage to South African music icons, with Cassper Nyovest and Morafe honoring the late HHP. Fan Maluleke Tsaki shared an emotional tribute, stating, “These guys were incredible. I’m sure wherever Jabba is, he’s proud. May he rest in paradise. Bosso ke wena.” OkmalumKoolkat further energized the crowd with a tribute to Riky Rick, while Yanga Chief, Robot Boii, and Khuli Chana delivered a touching homage to the legendary Supa Mega.

Despite Janet Jackson’s withdrawal following the passing of her brother Tito Jackson, the festival’s organisers ensured the star-studded line-up remained intact. With performances from both Busta Rhymes and Jason Derulo, fans were treated to a world-class experience.

The Channel O Stage was another festival highlight, showcasing a variety of artists including Heavy K, Nokwazi, Kyotic, Kabza De Small, and Nkosazana Daughter. The blend of musical genres kept attendees dancing throughout the day.

This year’s DStv Delicious Festival marks its 11th edition, celebrating 30 years of creative freedom in South Africa. Festival goers also indulged in a culinary feast, with wings, burgers, ribs, Asian dishes, and more available. Additional experiences included tastings from Windhoek and Savanna, alongside activations by Coke Studio and local radio stations. As the festival heads into its second day, fans can look forward to more exceptional performances and a vibrant celebration of food, music, and culture.
