Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor Sworn In as Vice-Chancellor of UPSA

In a significant milestone for the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor was officially sworn in as the institution’s new Vice-Chancellor on Friday.

The colorful ceremony, held at the university’s main campus, brought together dignitaries from academia, government officials, alumni, students, and family members of the newly inaugurated Vice-Chancellor. It marked a pivotal moment in UPSA’s history as Professor Mawutor takes over the helm of leadership with a commitment to further the institution’s mission of providing academic excellence and fostering professional development.

In his inaugural address, Professor Mawutor expressed gratitude to the university’s governing council and the entire UPSA community for entrusting him with the responsibility of steering the university’s vision. “UPSA has been a beacon of professional and academic excellence for decades. Under my leadership, we will expand our focus on cutting-edge research, technological integration, and producing graduates who can thrive in an increasingly globalized world,” Professor Mawutor stated.


He also pledged to prioritize the welfare of students and staff, enhance infrastructure, and strengthen partnerships with industry leaders to ensure that UPSA remains a leader in higher education in Ghana and beyond.
A Distinguished Career
Professor Mawutor, a seasoned academic and administrator, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He has previously served as the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies at UPSA, where he spearheaded initiatives to improve graduate programs and foster a research-driven culture.


His academic credentials include a doctorate in Finance and Accounting, along with several published works in reputable international journals. Known for his leadership, Professor Mawutor has consistently demonstrated a passion for mentorship, excellence, and innovation throughout his career.
