John Dumelo Applauds Electorate for Choosing Substance Over Handouts

John Dumelo, the newly elected Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, has hailed the growing discernment of Ghanaian voters in prioritizing policies and leadership over short-term incentives.

In a post-election interview on Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty, Dumelo reflected on his hard-fought victory against Lydia Seyram Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He noted that the electorate’s ability to make informed choices underscores the country’s evolving democratic maturity.

Dumelo reiterated his earlier allegations that Lydia Alhassan attempted to influence voters with gifts such as food items, money, and direct engagements during voting. Despite these efforts, Dumelo credited his win to relentless campaigning and the electorate’s commitment to meaningful representation.

“Some voters are no longer swayed by handouts; they now focus on policies and their realities,” Dumelo remarked, emphasizing the shift in voter behavior.

The actor-turned-politician expressed admiration for voters who prioritize long-term development and accountability over material inducements.

“The integrity of the electorate is admirable,” Dumelo stated, adding that the shift toward valuing genuine leadership and impactful policies is a positive sign for Ghana’s democracy.
