Transition Team Inaugurated for Mahama’s Incoming Administration

A Joint Transition Committee has been inaugurated to facilitate the transfer of power from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to President-elect John Dramani Mahama.
The inauguration ceremony, held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, saw President Akufo-Addo officially present the handing-over notes to the President-elect. He pledged his administration’s commitment to ensuring a seamless transition.
“I assure both the President-elect and Vice President-elect of my government’s full support for an effective and smooth transition. I wish them success and God’s blessings as they prepare to take on their high responsibilities,” President Akufo-Addo said.
Commitment to a Transparent Process
The transition process is being conducted under the Presidential Transition Act of 2012 (Act 845), which ensures a structured and transparent transfer of power between administrations.
President-elect Mahama, in his address, lauded the competence of his selected team members, expressing confidence in their ability to deliver effectively.
“I trust that the members of the Joint Transition Committee will work within the framework of the law to uphold the wishes of the Ghanaian people as expressed on December 7,” Mahama stated.
He further emphasized the need for cooperation across political lines:
“While we may represent different political parties, we all serve one Ghana. Let us work together to ensure a smooth and unified transition.”
Call to Prioritize National Interest
Mahama urged the committee to place Ghana’s interests above all, stressing the importance of professionalism and collaboration during the transition.
The committee is set to commence meetings in the coming days to outline plans for the transition process, ensuring the new administration is well-prepared to take over governance.
