Medikal Urges Mahama to Prioritize Youth Development

Ghanaian rapper Medikal has publicly voiced his belief in President-elect John Dramani Mahama, calling on him to focus on improving the lives of the youth as he prepares to take office.
In a series of posts on Twitter (X), the “Omo Ada” artist expressed cautious optimism about Mahama’s leadership, emphasizing the need for meaningful change.
“Let it be known to the incoming president, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, that I do not trust him but rather believe in him,” Medikal wrote. “Let this new change be exhibited drastically! If not for anything, he should foresee the generation of Sharaf, a good friend of mine (his son), and the betterment of the youth in Ghana and beyond. Thank you.”
Medikal’s comments come in the wake of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, conceding defeat to Mahama after the December 7 elections.
Although the Electoral Commission is scheduled to officially declare the results at 4:30 pm today, Dr. Bawumia addressed the nation from his residence on Sunday, December 8, acknowledging Mahama’s victory.
In his concession speech, Dr. Bawumia thanked Ghanaians for allowing him the opportunity to serve as Vice President and presidential candidate. He also cited provisional results from the NPP’s internal collation, which confirmed Mahama’s win.
Dr. Bawumia’s gesture has been widely celebrated as a demonstration of Ghana’s strong democratic principles and peaceful transition of power.
As Ghana embarks on this new chapter, Medikal and many others are hopeful that Mahama’s leadership will bring tangible progress, particularly for the nation’s youth.
