RMD Endorses Mahama: “He Deserves Another Chance as President”

Celebrated Nigerian actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) has expressed his admiration for Ghana’s former president and current National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, urging Ghanaians to consider giving him another term in office.
Speaking with Doreen Avio on the red carpet of the 2024 EMY Awards in Accra, RMD highlighted the importance of electing a leader who genuinely prioritizes the well-being of the people.
“Ghanaians should vote for the best man—the one who truly has their back. Not many candidates on the ballot genuinely care about the people, but Ghanaians know who does. They should make the right choice,” he advised.
RMD openly shared his personal favorite candidate, stating, “I like Mahama.”
Although he has never met Mahama, the iconic actor commended the former president for his infrastructural legacy, especially the transformation of Ghana’s international airport. “Every time I pass through the airport, I see what he built. My Ghanaian friends tell me about the impactful work he did. I think you should give him another chance and see how far it goes,” he remarked.
Ghana Prepares for Pivotal 2024 Elections
On December 7, 2024, Ghanaians will head to the polls to elect their next President and Members of Parliament. Former President Mahama, who served from 2013 to 2017, is vying to reclaim the presidency after an unsuccessful bid in 2020.
The election field also includes Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alan Kyerematen of the Movement for Change, Christian Kwabena Andrews of the Ghana Union Movement, and several other candidates from smaller parties and independents.
As election day approaches, the debate intensifies over which leader is best suited to advance Ghana’s development and secure its future stability. RMD’s comments reflect the high stakes and growing interest in the country’s democratic process.
