Spice Arrives in Ghana for “Jiggle & Whine” Video Shoot with Stonebwoy

Queen of Jamaican dancehall, Grace Latoya Hamilton, popularly known as Spice, has arrived in Ghana for a major collaboration with Ghanaian reggae-dancehall star Stonebwoy.

The Grammy-nominated artist landed at Kotoka International Airport in the early hours of Friday, November 15, 2024, where she received a warm welcome from Stonebwoy and his team. The two stars are set to film the much-anticipated music video for their latest track, “Jiggle & Whine.”

The song, which has already captured global attention, promises to be a fusion of Spice’s electrifying Jamaican dancehall energy and Stonebwoy’s signature Ghanaian reggae-dancehall vibe. The video shoot, scheduled for Sunday, November 17, 2024, is expected to highlight vibrant cultural elements from both artists’ roots, creating a visually captivating experience for fans.

Grace Latoya Hamilton, born August 6, 1982, and known professionally as Spice, is a globally celebrated Jamaican dancehall artist, often hailed as the “Queen of Dancehall.” Renowned for her bold lyrics, commanding flow, and versatility, she has consistently pushed boundaries in the music industry.

Spice rose to prominence after performing at the annual dancehall festival Sting in 2000. In 2003, she debuted her single “Complain” under Dave Kelly’s Madhouse Records, followed by hits like “Right There” and “Hype.” Her collaborations with legends such as Jimmy Cliff and Beenie Man further cemented her reputation.

Her breakout moment came in 2009 with the controversial hit “Ramping Shop” featuring Vybz Kartel. In 2014, she released her debut EP, So Mi Like It, under VP Records. A trailblazer, Spice became the first female dancehall artist nominated for Best Reggae Act at the MOBO Awards in 2016.

In 2018, Spice independently released her mixtape Captured, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. Her debut studio album, 10 (2021), earned a Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album. Since parting ways with VP Records, she has continued to excel, releasing independent projects, including her second studio album, Emancipated (2022), and her most recent album, Mirror 25 (2024).

Spice remains an icon in the dancehall world, celebrated for her unmatched artistry and dedication to pushing the genre to global heights.
