Tems Extends Her Record as Most Certified Nigerian Female Artist in the U.S.

Tems has solidified her standing as the most certified Nigerian female artist in the U.S. with a new milestone: her single “Found,” featuring Brent Faiyaz, has now sold one million copies in the country, earning it an RIAA platinum plaque.
The song, featured on her 2021 EP If Orange Was A Place, has become one of her most successful tracks to date.
The success of “Found” follows Tems’ global breakthrough on Wizkid’s chart-topping hit “Essence,” which propelled her to international fame. Since its release, “Found” has racked up over 119 million streams on Spotify, making it one of her most popular songs.
This latest certification marks Tems’ third RIAA platinum award, joining her previous certifications for Future’s “Wait For U” and her solo hit “Free Mind.” Recently, she also celebrated RIAA gold certifications for her track “Higher”—which charted on the Billboard Hot 100—and her debut EP For Broken Ears, making her the first Nigerian female artist to achieve RIAA gold status for an album.
Tems now stands alongside Rema and Wizkid as one of the few Nigerian artists with RIAA-certified projects, with both Wizkid’s Made In Lagos and Rema’s Rave & Roses also achieving gold status in the U.S.
This remarkable achievement solidifies her place in music history and showcases the growing impact of Nigerian artists on the global stage.
