Cholera Threat Looms: Ghana Health Service Urges National Hygiene Efforts

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) is urging the public to prioritize hygiene practices as cholera cases continue to spread across various regions of the country. The service stresses that maintaining clean environments and proper sanitation in communities is crucial to curbing the spread of this infectious disease.

Awutu Senya East in the Central Region is the latest area affected, with the Municipal Health Directorate confirming 30 cases, including five deaths reported in recent days. Municipal Chief Executive Anita Obo Love Amissah noted the rising case numbers but expressed hope that the situation will stabilize in the near future.

Ada East and West districts have emerged as primary hotspots, where the Ghana Health Service is ramping up efforts to educate residents on preventive health measures. The GHS is actively sharing hygiene tips across social media platforms, encouraging citizens to stay vigilant and adopt practices that help prevent infection.
