Stonebwoy, Ghana’s celebrated Afro-Dancehall artist, has released his highly anticipated sixth studio album, Up & Runnin6. The album brings together an impressive lineup of Jamaican talent, featuring Spice, Jahmiel, 10Tik, Chi Ching Ching, and Blvk H3ro. Released on October 24 under Burniton Music Group and Warner Music Group’s ADA Worldwide, this cross-continental project blends contemporary sounds from Africa, the U.S., and Jamaica.
Stonebwoy describes working with Dancehall queen Spice as one of the album’s highlights. “Collaborating with Spice was a unique experience,” he told DancehallMag. “This album brings a fresh wave of carnival-inspired anthems that I’m excited to share with fans.”
Jamaican influence is deeply embedded in Stonebwoy’s Afro-Dancehall sound, and he emphasizes how important it was to have Jamaican-born superstars on this album. “Jamaican sound has always shaped my musical journey,” he explained. “This project allows me to further cement that connection.”
The album’s tracklist showcases diverse sounds, with Blvk H3ro leading the R&B-Afro fusion “Geography” alongside Belizean singer-songwriter Kaylan Arnold and Chi Ching Ching’s unmistakable toasting style. In “Overlord,” Jahmiel’s conscious lyrics join forces with 10Tik’s hard-hitting verses and Ghana’s rising Dancehall star, Larruso.
Stonebwoy has long been a prominent African artist in Reggae and Dancehall, collaborating with over 30 Jamaican artists and appearing on Grammy-nominated Reggae albums with the likes of Beenie Man, Jah Cure, and Shaggy.
Reflecting on his journey, Stonebwoy shared, “I’ve learned to let music find its own path, allowing each song to organically align with the right collaborators.”
Named an “African Voices Changemaker” by CNN this year, Stonebwoy continues to bridge Afro and Caribbean music, strengthening cultural ties and bringing Afro-Dancehall to the world stage.
