Pearl Thusi Steps Up as Comedy Central’s Next Roast Target

Renowned actress, media personality, and entrepreneur Pearl Thusi is ready to embrace the flames as the next Mzansi star to be roasted. Known for her bold personality, Thusi is set to face the heat on the Comedy Central Roast of Pearl Thusi, presented by Smirnoff Spicy Tamarind. The event will be filmed at Gold Reef City’s Lyric Theatre on Saturday, November 2, and will air on December 8.

Comedy Central’s roast tradition has previously taken aim at prominent figures like Kenny Kunene, Somizi Mhlongo, AKA, and Khanyi Mbau, sparing no one from sharp-witted jabs. Now, Pearl “Queen Sono” Thusi will join this daring lineup, bravely taking her turn in the hot seat as her entertainment industry peers roast her.

“Having been in the entertainment industry for years, I’m no stranger to pressure, and I’m absolutely ready for whatever the Roasters bring. Rest assured, I’ll bring my A-game to this Roast!” Thusi declared confidently.

For the first time, Thusi takes on the role of roastee after previously being part of the roasting panel. She’s eager for the thrill, saying, “I’m looking forward to having some fun and serving it right back. If the Roasters think they’ll make me squirm, they’re in for a surprise!”

Originally from Durban, the 36-year-old Thusi has evolved from a beauty queen into a multifaceted star, gaining fame as a TV show host and actress in both local and international productions. Alongside her acting, she is also a brand ambassador, entrepreneur, and DJ.

Over the years, Thusi has become a controversial figure, often drawing criticism on social media for her outspoken views. Last year, she sparked a buzz by wearing a revealing, sheer outfit, and defended her right to express herself, setting the internet alight.

What will her Roastmaster and panel say about this moment and others? On the Comedy Central Roast of Pearl Thusi, nothing is off-limits.

Monde Twala, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Paramount Africa, and BET International lead, expressed excitement about Thusi taking the stage. “We’re excited to see the Black Pearl bring her bold energy to the Roast. We know she’ll fire back with the spiciest of flames!”

In other roast news, Showmax and Laugh Africa recently aired the “Showmax Roast of Minnie Dlamini,” an event unaffiliated with Comedy Central’s Roast series.
