Dumisani gained widespread attention in South Africa for his controversial performance of the national anthem during a rugby match between South Africa and France in November 2009. His off-key and off-beat rendition was criticized by the South African government, media, and fans, who partially attributed South Africa’s defeat to the performance. In 2010, he released a reggae version of the anthem.
