Senegalese Jazz Maestro Alune Wade Captivates Audience at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Accra

The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Accra buzzed with energy on Saturday, October 12, 2024, as diplomats, prominent government officials, and cultural figures gathered for an enchanting evening of music and celebration.
The centerpiece of the event was the renowned Senegalese composer and singer Alune Wade, who mesmerized attendees with an engaging medley of songs. Wade, a notable figure in the global jazz and Afrobeats scenes, took to the stage with his talented band, creating an atmosphere of unity and excitement that captivated the audience.

Ghanaian singer Anabel Rose set the stage with a soulful opening performance that seamlessly complemented Wade’s jazz brilliance. Throughout the night, Wade showcased his versatility, breathing new life into the African jazz scene and reinforcing his status as a celebrated artist in world music.

His dynamic performance had attendees on their feet, including Ingrid Mollestad, the Norwegian Ambassador to Ghana, who was clearly impressed.

In an interview with Myjoyonline.com’s Kenneth Awotwe Darko, Ambassador Mollestad expressed her joy, noting that the event not only celebrated art but also marked the opening of a new Norwegian embassy in Dakar.

She highlighted the role of music in fostering unity and solidarity—essential elements in strengthening bilateral relations between nations. “This gathering brings together Ghanaian, Senegalese, and French musicians, celebrating our connections through music. This cultural bond is crucial for human and national connections, and that is the essence of what we are achieving tonight,” she remarked.
