Burna Boy Sets New Record for Nigerian Artists on Billboard Hot 100

Burna Boy, the Nigerian megastar, has set a new benchmark by becoming the Nigerian artist with the most entries on the prestigious Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Since his breakout with the global hit YE, Burna Boy has solidified his place as one of Africa’s most influential stars, amassing numerous awards and performing at sold-out venues around the world.

In his latest achievement, the Port Harcourt-born artist now holds six Billboard Hot 100 entries, the highest among Nigerian artists. His most recent entry comes from Coldplay’s We Pray, featuring Little Simz, which debuted at No. 87 for the chart week of October 19, 2024.

Burna Boy, also known as Damini Ogulu MFR, reached his highest position on the chart with Last Last, peaking at No. 44 and staying on the chart for 19 weeks.

Behind him is Grammy-winning artist Tems, with five Billboard entries. Tems made history as the first Nigerian artist to debut at No. 1 with Future’s Wait For U.

Wizkid follows closely with four entries, including the No. 1 hit One Dance with Drake, which made him the first Afrobeats artist to top the Billboard Hot 100.

Rema, CKay, Fireboy DML, Davido, and Lojay each have one entry. Rema holds the highest-charting Afrobeats song with Calm Down featuring Selena Gomez, which peaked at No. 3. CKay’s Love Nwantiti peaked at No. 26, while Fireboy’s Peru remix featuring Ed Sheeran reached No. 54. Davido and Lojay charted with their feature on Chris Brown’s Sensational, which landed at No. 94.
