Reggae artist Jah Cure, currently serving a six-year sentence in a Dutch prison, marked his 46th birthday in an unusual yet heartfelt way surrounded by fellow inmates and staff.

In an Instagram post shared on Friday, the singer expressed gratitude for the sense of community he experienced. “Today I had the best birthday you could have in jail,” Jah Cure wrote.

He went on to thank inmates of various nationalities who came together to help him celebrate. “Thanks to all the people from different nationalities that rallied around me, helping me make cakes, serve food, and drinks,” his post read. “It’s important to find happiness even in the darkest times. I’m grateful to the guards and staff who made this possible. I truly felt the love and respect from everyone here.”

Jah Cure also extended birthday wishes to others born under the Libra sign, concluding with, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY to every Libra  that was born on this day and this month. #happylibraseason.”

His post received an outpouring of support from fans and fellow musicians. Dancehall artist Charly Black commented, “Blessings inuh me singer more life,” while I-Octane added, “Blessed earth strong king 🤴🙏🏻 more life and prosperity 🙏🏻.”

Jah Cure, born Siccature Alcock, was convicted of attempted manslaughter in March 2022 after a stabbing incident involving a promoter over unpaid performance fees in October 2021. He was initially acquitted of attempted murder, a charge that Dutch prosecutors have since appealed, with the possibility of a new trial looming.

The “True Reflections” singer has a troubled past, having previously served eight years of a 15-year sentence in Jamaica for illegal possession of a firearm, rape, and robbery with aggravation. He was released in 2007.
