Camidoh Highlights the Need for Investment in Ghana’s Music Industry

Ghanaian musician and producer Raphael Camidoh has underscored the urgent need for stakeholders in the Ghanaian music industry to invest significantly in high-quality music productions, particularly in video creation.
In a recent interview with Melvin Da Enigma on Luv FM, Camidoh addressed the growing disparity between the thriving Nigerian music industry and Ghana’s music scene. He pointed out that local industry players tend to invest less in their craft compared to their Nigerian counterparts.

“Investors in Ghana are generally less inclined to support artists, their music videos, and marketing efforts,” he stated. He emphasized that in Nigeria, the budgets allocated for shooting music videos are substantial enough to finance a full Ghanaian film.
Camidoh believes that Nigerian investors recognize the potential and profitability of their music sector, a realization that is yet to fully take root in Ghana. While acknowledging the progress in the local music scene, he asserted that there is still much work to be done, particularly by learning from Nigeria’s example.

Recently, Camidoh’s hit song “Sugarcane Remix” reached an impressive milestone of over 100 million views on YouTube, the highest for any Ghanaian artist. He attributes this success to the advantages of investing more resources into one’s craft.
Reflecting on his musical journey, Camidoh shared that his passion was inspired by Akon. He recalled his early days of selling Sobolo, Pure Water, and Asanaa at a table in Ola Girls SHS in the Volta region, where he began writing his raps.

Grateful for the support of his fans and Ghanaians, Camidoh encouraged aspiring artists to find their unique niche to remain relevant in the competitive music landscape. “To carve out a space for yourself, you need to identify that unique quality that sets you apart,” he advised.
