Rhythms On Da Runway Fosters Growth for Fashion Enthusiasts – Edem Mensah-Tsotorme

Rhythms On Da Runway continues to shine a spotlight on Africa’s finest talents, offering a global platform for designers and artists to exhibit their creativity to a worldwide audience. Powered by Nineteen57 Clothing, owned by Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), the event has become a significant hub for the continent’s fashion and art scene.

During the launch, Edem Mensah-Tsotorme, Media Relations Director at Nineteen57 Events, emphasized the critical role fashion plays in the creative economy. He noted that the fashion industry significantly contributes to a country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and is a key driver of employment for the youth.
“We at Nineteen57 are thrilled to welcome you to this pivotal industry event, the launch of Rhythms On Da Runway 2024,” Mensah-Tsotorme announced.

The star-studded event, held on Saturday, 21 September at Silver Star Tower in Airport City, featured appearances from renowned figures such as football legends Stephen Appiah and Derrick Boateng, media personalities Abeiku Santana and Reggie Rockstone, politician Sammy Gyamfi, and actor James Gardner.
Mensah-Tsotorme highlighted the recognition of fashion as a fast-growing, vibrant sector within the creative economy. “The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, has acknowledged fashion’s immense potential to create jobs and foster inclusion.”

He further explained, “To harness these benefits, we must be deliberate in creating a conducive environment for the fashion ecosystem to flourish. Over the past 14 years, Rhythms On Da Runway has been instrumental in providing this platform for those in the fashion industry.”
Expressing optimism about the future, Mensah-Tsotorme stated, “With your continued support, we aim to build strategic partnerships with key stakeholders to develop a strong fashion ecosystem, which will open up more opportunities for emerging talents and crafts.”
Rhythms On Da Runway is set to return on 30 November, with this year’s theme being “The Kente Edition,” to be held at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

“Tonight, we will unveil the various plans and strategies leading up to the main event. It is with mixed emotions that I inform you this will be our final launch event. More details will be shared later,” he concluded.
