Fiifi Coleman Champions Actors’ Future with Welfare Scheme Launch

Ghanaian actor and creative entrepreneur Fiifi Coleman has taken a bold step toward addressing the financial struggles faced by actors in the country. On Saturday, January 4, 2025, he launched the Private Actors Welfare Scheme at the Accra Marriott Hotel in partnership with Hollard Insurance.

The scheme is designed to provide financial support for actors, particularly during old age or periods of illness. Speaking passionately at the event, Fiifi Coleman underscored the significance of the initiative. “This scheme is more than just financial security—it represents hope, dignity, and respect. No longer will actors live in fear of old age or sickness, nor depend on charity for their basic needs. Together, we are shaping a future of pride and stability for ourselves and our colleagues,” he said.

He added, “This is our moment to take control. Tonight, the suffering ends. It is time for us to call, ‘camera, lights, action!’ for our own future.”

Eunice Etornam Owusu, Group Business and Partnership Manager at Hollard Insurance, engaged attendees during the event, providing insights into the workings of the welfare scheme and how it would ensure financial stability for its members

The launch also served as a dinner gathering for the film industry, drawing some of Ghana’s most celebrated actors, including Mawuli Semevo, Akofa Edjeani, Vivian Opare, Pascaline Edwards, Ken Fiati, Oscar Provencal, George Quaye, Naa Ashorkor, Salinko, Abeiku Sagoe, Edinam Atatsi, Fred Amugi, Nii Saka Brown, and Amankwah Ampofo.

Veteran playwright and lecturer Dr. Mohammed Ben-Abdallah was also in attendance. He applauded the initiative, urging actors to rally behind it to secure their futures.

The Private Actors Welfare Scheme represents a groundbreaking effort to uplift Ghana’s acting community, offering them a path toward financial independence and dignity as they navigate their careers and retirements.
