NDC Secures Historic Win in Ayawaso Central as Tubazu Ousts Henry Quartey

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has achieved a landmark victory in the Ayawaso Central constituency, where Abdul Rauf Tongym Tubazu defeated incumbent NPP MP Henry Quartey in the 2024 parliamentary elections.
Tubazu emerged victorious with 29,755 votes, surpassing Quartey’s 23,345. Charles Kwame Adams of the National Democratic Party (NDP) managed only 163 votes. Of the 53,550 total votes cast, 287 were rejected as invalid.
This upset is one of several critical wins for the NDC, which has wrested key constituencies from the ruling NPP.
In Mpohor, NDC’s Henry Godfred Bentil ousted incumbent John Kobina Abbam Aboah Sanie with 11,680 votes to Sanie’s 8,299.
In Sekondi, Blay Nyameke Armah of the NDC defeated NPP’s Andrew Egyapa Mercer, earning 14,558 votes (56.40%) compared to Mercer’s 11,084 (42.94%). A total of 25,813 votes were cast in Sekondi, with 171 rejected ballots.
These victories highlight the NDC’s growing influence in the 2024 elections, significantly altering the political dynamics in critical constituencies across the country.
