“Step Out of Your Comfort Zone or Fade Away” – Nana Poku Tells Young Artistes

Ghanaian entertainment manager, Nana Poku Ashis has issued a stern warning to young artistes: staying in your comfort zone is a fast track to obscurity. Speaking on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz, he stressed that talent alone no longer guarantees success in the fast-evolving music industry.
“You cannot be a superstar forever. You need to add something that gives your brand value,” Nana Poku said.
He pointed to Samini as a prime example of evolution in action — from a vibrant, energetic performer to a matured, business-minded artiste.
“Samini has grown from the young running-around boy to a level-headed man. Now, when he walks into an office, he’s not just Samini the musician; he’s a brand with value,” he added.
Nana Poku urged upcoming artistes to define their niche, build their brand, and embrace creativity with patience, warning that instant hits are not enough to sustain a career. He likened music creation to childbirth:
“You might give it eight months, but it comes in seven. Or you might give it seven months, and it comes in twelve. Timing and patience are everything.”
His advice is a wake-up call for the new generation of Ghanaian musicians aiming for global relevance: grow, evolve, and don’t be afraid to take risks.
