Yul Edochie Urges Pastors to Embrace Native Spirituality

Nollywood actor and self-proclaimed cleric, Yul Edochie, has stirred controversy with his assertion that many Nigerian pastors are ignoring their true spiritual calling as native doctors.

Edochie criticized the influence of Western ideologies and Nollywood for portraying native doctors as evil, a narrative he believes has caused some individuals to reject their original divine purpose.

Taking to Instagram, the actor described the role of a native doctor as a sacred calling meant to help humanity. He encouraged pastors who feel unfulfilled in their current roles to reconsider their spiritual paths.

“Many pastors today actually have the calling to be native doctors but they are refusing to answer the call because oyibo people brainwashed us to believe it is evil. And Nollywood has also contributed in making native doctors look evil,” he wrote.

Edochie explained that both pastors and native doctors can choose to use their spiritual gifts for good or evil. He emphasized that answering one’s true calling is essential for a fulfilling life.

“A true native doctor fights evil, unless he decides to be evil. Same way a pastor can decide to be evil. Go and answer your call. You may never have fulfillment in your life if you don’t answer your call,” he added.

The actor’s statement has sparked mixed reactions online, with some supporting his call for the acceptance of native spirituality and others opposing his views.
