Baba Sadiq Abdulai Declared Winner of Okaikwei Central Parliamentary Election

The Electoral Commission has declared Baba Sadiq Abdulai, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, as the winner of the Okaikwei Central parliamentary seat in the 2024 elections.

Baba Sadiq narrowly defeated the incumbent Member of Parliament, Patrick Boamah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), securing 15,323 votes compared to Boamah’s 14,949. A total of 30,332 valid votes were cast, with 130 ballots rejected.

Graphic Online’s Joshua Bediako Koomson, reporting from the collation centre, confirmed Baba Sadiq’s victory amidst intense competition.

However, tensions flared as members of the NPP alleged that the declaration was made under duress, claiming the collation centre had been locked during the process. The Electoral Commission has yet to comment on these allegations.
