Julian Marley and Alexx Antaeus Receive Grammy Nomination for ‘Jah Sees Them’ Remix

Reggae artist Julian Marley and producer Alexx Antaeus have been nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Remixed Recording category for their Amapiano remix of Jah Sees Them. The announcement was made on November 8 during the Recording Academy’s live-streamed nominations event.
Released in August 2024 via Monom Records and The Orchard/Sony, the remix will face competition from remixes by Charli XCX and Addison Rae, Doechii, Kaytranada and JT, Sabrina Carpenter, and Shaboozey and David Guetta.
This is a significant achievement for the duo, who won Best Reggae Album at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards earlier this year for Colors of Royal. Marley, who has previously been nominated for Best Reggae Album with Awake (2010) and As I Am (2020), continues to build on his Grammy legacy. For Antaeus, this is his second nomination.
The Amapiano remix of Jah Sees Them takes the original track, which opened Colors of Royal, and transforms it into a high-energy fusion of reggae and Amapiano, a genre native to South Africa known for its vibrant beats.
Julian Marley expressed his excitement about the remix, stating, “The Jah Sees Them Amapiano Remix represents my deep passion for music beyond just reggae. It’s a powerful fusion that bridges cultures and genres, reflecting my belief that music has no boundaries.”
In addition to this nomination, Best Reggae Album nominees for the 2025 Grammy Awards include Collie Buddz’ Take It Easy, Shenseea’s Never Gets Late Here, the Bob Marley: One Love – Music Inspired By the Film soundtrack, Vybz Kartel’s Party With Me, and The Wailers’ Evolution.
First-round voting by Recording Academy members wrapped up in mid-October, and the final round of voting will take place between December 12, 2024, and January 3, 2025. The winners will be revealed on February 2, 2025, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with the ceremony airing live on CBS and Paramount+, preceded by the Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony.
