NSMQ 2024 Begins in Cape Coast: Mfantsiman Girls, Simms, and Porter Girls Shine

The 2024 National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ) has commenced in Cape Coast, bringing together the brightest students in a thrilling competition.

In standout performances, Mfantsiman Girls’ Senior High School, Simms Senior High School, and Archbishop Porter Girls’ Senior High School have advanced to the 1/8th stage, showcasing remarkable academic skills and determination.

Tense Battles on Day One

At Cape Coast’s CNC Auditorium, Archbishop Porter Girls’ SHS delivered a commanding win against Wenchi Methodist SHS and Ejisuman SHS. Their deep understanding of scientific and mathematical concepts earned them 45 points, comfortably ahead of Ejisuman’s 32 points and Wenchi Methodist’s 26 points.

Mfantsiman Girls’ SHS also impressed at UCC’s Auditorium 900, clinching a hard-fought victory with 44 points over West Africa Senior High School, who came close with 42 points, and Zion College, finishing with 40 points.

Over at the School of Graduate Studies Auditorium, Simms SHS secured a tight win with 43 points, defeating Kpando SHS (38 points) and Hope College (36 points).

Advancing to the Next Stage

These victories propel Mfantsiman Girls’, Simms SHS, and Archbishop Porter Girls’ into the next phase of the NSMQ 2024, carrying with them the hopes and pride of their schools and communities. Their strong showings set the stage for more intense competition as they aim for the ultimate prize.

The NSMQ Legacy

Since its inception in 1993 by Primetime Limited, the NSMQ has become Ghana’s premier academic competition, inspiring a passion for science and mathematics in students across the country. This year’s event, which has attracted 157 schools, is the first to be hosted in Cape Coast, a city known for its long-standing educational legacy.

With its challenging format and fierce rivalries, the NSMQ continues to encourage academic excellence and inspire the next generation of STEM leaders.
