Icons of African Music Dazzle at the 11th African Legends Night

On October 5, the Grand Arena in Accra came alive with the sounds of Africa as the 11th edition of African Legends Night unfolded in a spectacular display of the continent’s musical heritage. This year’s event, organized by Global Media Alliance, featured unforgettable performances from some of Africa’s most revered musical legends.

The night, hosted by Akua Sika of Happy FM and Comedian Foster Romanus, saw remarkable performances from Yvonne Chaka Chaka, George Jahraa, Okyeame Kwame, and Adane Best, bringing together a vibrant blend of fans and music icons in celebration of Africa’s musical legacy.
The event opened with a powerful performance by the Patchbay Band, whose fusion of live music and infectious rhythms set the stage for what would be a magical evening.

Adane Best, renowned for his storytelling through highlife music, kicked off the night with a series of his classic hits. His iconic track “Gyata Bi” thrilled the audience, enhanced by a dramatic appearance from a human-lion figure that added a unique theatrical element to his performance.
Next up was George Jahraa, a legend with more than 30 years in the industry. His electrifying performance kept the energy high, showcasing the artistry that has made him a mainstay in African music for decades.

The “Princess of Africa,” Yvonne Chaka Chaka, brought her signature energy and grace to the stage, performing fan favorites like “Thank You Mr. DJ” and “Umqombothi.” The audience joined her in a heartwarming sing-along, a testament to her enduring appeal and influence on the African music scene.

Closing out the night was Okyeame Kwame, whose masterful fusion of rap and traditional African rhythms brought the event to a rousing finale. Performing hits such as “Woara” and “Made in Ghana,” Okyeame Kwame’s dynamic set had the audience dancing and singing along to his infectious beats.

Each artist was honored with a citation and inducted into the African Legends Hall of Fame, further cementing their legacy in the annals of African music history. The night concluded with a lively set from DJ Carcious of YFM, ensuring the event ended on a high note.
