UndaBeat: Renowned Ghanaian Music Producer Passes Away

Music producer UndaBeat, whose real name was Eric Nkrumah, has sadly passed away.

During his career, UndaBeat worked with prominent artists such as Yaa Pono, Stonebwoy, Black Sherif, and Shatta Wale. He initially started at Ebibifo Records in Mankessim before moving to Tema-based Screech Studio in 2013. He later joined Uptown Energy, a music company founded by Yaa Pono, where they collaborated on hits like “Bokor” and “Bibi Nti.”

Yaa Pono expressed his grief on social media, saying, “Why, Unda? You messed up my whole mood this morning, bro,” and added, “Rest in peace, my brother.”

In 2019, UndaBeat was nominated for the Instrumentalist of the Year award at the Ghana Music Awards. Two years later, the track “Sobolo,” which he produced for Stonebwoy, won Highlife Song of the Year at the 3Music Awards 2021.

The news of his passing broke on Thursday, September 27, 2024, just three days after his birthday. As of now, UndaBeat’s family has not released details regarding the cause of his death.
